What Information does Meritlane Collect?

In order to serve our users more effectively, Meritlane may request and/or collect
information from you on a voluntary basis when you: (1) register with us; (2) download
our application; (3) subscribe to our newsletter; (4) make changes under your account
settings etc. The requested information for registered users may include personal
information (such as your name, e-mail address, telephone number, mailing address),
account information (such as a password or other information that helps us confirm that
it is you accessing your account) and demographic or other information (such as your
school, gender, age or birthday, and other information about your interests and
preferences), and third-party account credentials (for example, your log-in credentials
for Google Plus, Facebook or other third party sites). Any such additional information
combined with your Personal Information will be treated together as Personal

information about your interests and activities, and other additional information. This
allows us to tailor the program specific to you and provide you with bespoke content
according to your preferences and interests.
As a subscription paid user, you may provide us with additional information to record
various achievements across different categories, in order to be eligible for Scholarship
awards. When you become eligible for a Scholarship award, you may be required to
provide additional information, such as proof of identity (which may include a passport,
Aadhaar card, Parents Ration Card, Voters ID card or similar government issued
identification), proof of all academic and non-academic achievements (which may
include high school mark-sheets, University mark-sheets, standardized test scores, or
certificate of completion as the case may be) and an Admission letter or I-20 from the
University you plan to attend.
To be eligible for specific Grants and Crowd-funding projects, we may require additional
information pertaining to Parents Income proof (salary slip/ bank statements /Form 16
etc) or proof of financial need. Separate consent from Parents/Guardian will be
collected, prior to processing any such information collected.
If you provide your third-party account credentials to us or otherwise sign in to
Meritlane's Services through a third party site or service, you understand some content
and/or information in those accounts ("Third Party Account Information") may be
transmitted into your account with us, and that Third Party Account Information
our Services through Facebook, your Facebook profile information may be populated
into your profile on Meritlane.
All information entered by you is voluntary and at your own discretion, though certain
information may be required in order to register with us or to take advantage of some
of our features. If you provide such information, you consent to the use of that
information in accordance with the policies and practices described in this Privacy
Meritlane may, on occasion, send you notifications, information, materials, or other
offers through e-mail, by SMS (short messaging service), or by means of a Push
notification within the app. Also, we may receive a confirmation when you open an
email from us. This confirmation helps us improve our communications with you.
Information that is collected automatically:
Whenever you interact with Meritlane, we automatically receive and record information
on our server logs from your browser or device, which may include your IP address,
geolocation data, device identification, "cookie" information, the type of browser
and/or device you're using to access our Services, and the page or feature you

These cookies and clear GIFs let us know how many people are coming to the site, how
frequently, and how they are using the site, allowing us to make updates to content and
improve navigation as appropriate.

computer that fetched our page, the URL of the page the GIF is on, the time the page
was viewed, the type of browser used, and can tell us a previously set cookie value. This
anonymous information is returned by the clear GIF to Meritlane and we use this
information to accurately count visitors and understand how they navigate and use our

Meritlane may receive a request from Grant Sponsors as well as Financial
Institutions to review specific cases for them to offer financial support. In these
cases, for the benefit of our User, with a view to enabling their financial aid
process, Meritlane will on a case-to- case basis provide such information as
necessary, after notifying the User.
Information that's been de-identified. We may de-identify your Personal
Information so that you are not identified as an individual, and provide that
information to our partners. We may also provide aggregate usage information
to our partners (or allow partners to collect that information from you), who
may use such information to help provide you with an optimal online experience.
Meritlane may share specific information on a User, in the form of monthly or
weekly reports to respective Parents.
Verification Services – In some cases, prior to the award of scholarships,
Meritlane may use the assistance of specialist verification services to ascertain
the veracity of certain documents and submissions made by our Users.
Agents, Affiliates and Business Partners: We employ other companies and
people to perform tasks on our behalf and need to share your information with
them to provide products or services to you. We also may partner with or hire
other businesses to help us improve our services and may need to share your
information with them. In any case, all such third parties, do not have any right
to use the Personal Information we share with them for their own purposes
